Launch of National Telehealth Modules for Residential Aged Care Homes

In a landmark collaboration, the Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN), together with a consortium of 15 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) spanning Australia, is proud to announce the launch of a pioneering Residential Aged Care Home Telehealth Training Program.

This initiative, developed in response to the evolving healthcare landscape, aims to standardise and optimise telehealth practices specifically tailored for residential aged care facilities nationwide. Recognising the crucial role of telehealth in modern healthcare delivery, the program seeks to establish uniform guidelines and best practices, ensuring consistency and excellence in telehealth implementation across the aged care sector.

Collaborative Development:

The WVPHN-led initiative involves a dedicated PHN Telehealth Training Project working group and Advisory Committee. This collaborative effort includes input from a panel of expert advisors with extensive experience in telehealth and residential aged care. Their insights have been instrumental in shaping a comprehensive training package designed to empower both residential aged-care home clinicians and remote telehealth providers.

Implementation and Accessibility:

The program features a series of innovative microlearning modules, meticulously crafted by Obvious Choice, the awarded tender recipient. These modules are tailored to cater to the diverse learning needs of clinicians and staff within residential aged care homes, as well as clinicians delivering telehealth services from remote locations.

Next Steps:

The WVPHN and its consortium partners are excited to roll out this transformative program via the NINCo branch of the Learning Management System (Link to the LMS). This platform will serve as a central hub for accessing training resources, facilitating knowledge sharing, and promoting continuous professional development in telehealth within the aged care sector.
